Man killed in shooting on Interstate 81 in Franklin County

Reported by Ewa Roman (ERoman@sbgtv.com)

State Police in Franklin County continue their search for a person who shot and killed a man in cold blood on Interstate 81 in Antrim Township early Saturday morning.

Investigators need the public' shell because they don't have a good suspect description. What they do have is a 911 call the victim made. He was on the phone with dispatchers the entire time.

State police say that around 2 Saturday morning, 28 year old Timothy Davison of Poland, Maine was driving North on Interstate 81 near mile marker 3, when he called 911 saying the driver of a Ford ranger style pickup truck was chasing him.

"He then rammed his vehicle into the victims vehicle causing it to spin out of control and become disabled in the median. The suspect then turned around, he got out of his vehicle, he approached the victim's vehicle fired a couple rounds into the vehicle, striking and killing the other driver," said Trooper Robert Hicks, state police.

Davison later died at York Hospital.
As police investigated the homicide scene, traffic backed up for miles and people who live nearby say they were shocked this could happen.

"I just think there is a lot of violence. A lot of disrespect. You know, you think people would change from September 11th and bond and get closer together, but there's a lot of good people and then there's not," said one Chambersburg woman.

"It was aweful, you know? I think it's aweful to do something like that," said Lisa Ornforff, Chambersburg resident.

"I don't know how someone could just go and run into someone else and then go and shoot them for no reason, I don't know it's just really sad," said Kimberly Orndorff, Chambersburg resident.

State Police say if you're ever in a situation like this there are things you can do to keep you safe.

"The best thing to do is pull off the side of the road, and let the other person go. Obviously there are aggressive drivers out there that get easily angered by other people, so if you find yourself in that situation call 911 and pull off the side of the road and get yourself out of that situation as best as possible," said Trooper Hicks.

If you have any information that could help police in this investigation, call State police.
